Becoming Catholic

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) and Adult Confirmation

Are you interested in becoming a Catholic?  Do you want to know more about the Catholic Church but don’t know who to ask?  Or were you baptized as a Catholic but never received First Communion and/or Confirmation?  In this difficult time when we are socially separated many people may want to discover more about faith and the Catholic Church.  We want to help.

Ascension Parish sponsors the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) for people interested in joining the Catholic Church and a Confirmation preparation program for adults 18 and older who have been baptized in the Catholic Church but have not received First Communion and/or Confirmation.  The program will begin in early October and end in early April, with meetings every other week on Sunday evenings.  All meetings will be held virtually using Zoom until Public Health Authorities and the Archdiocese of Boston determine that it is safe to meet in person.

If you are interested, you can call the parish office at (978) 443-2647 or leave a message in the “Contact” link on the Ascension parish website.  Someone will contact you to discuss the program.

If you have a family member or friend who is interested in becoming Catholic or who has questions about becoming Catholic, or if you know an adult who has not been confirmed, please let him or her know about our program.  If you know a young person under 18 who has not been confirmed please have him or her contact one of the sources above and we will discuss options with you.
